Paneer Chilly

Paneer chilli is an Indo-Chinese dish which is loved by Indians. It is the perfect starter for vegetarian lovers. There are 2 versions of paneer chilli which is dry and gravy based. It is hot, spicy and loaded with flavours.  If you think it is difficult to make a restaurant-style paneer chilli at home, then you are wrong. I am sharing a simple recipe which I use to make restaurant-style paneer chilli at home.

Ingredients

  • Paneer - 250 grams
  • Capsicum (Red, Yellow, Green) - 1 each
  • Onion - 2
  • Garlic, Ginger, Green chilly (finely chopped) - 2 tbsp
  • Green chilly sauce - 1 tsp
  • Red chilly sauce - 1 tsp
  • Soya sauce - 2 tsp
  • Maida(Refined flour) - 2 tbsp
  • Cornflour - 3 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying

Method

  1. Cut paneer into small cubes.
  2. In a bowl, add maida, cornflour, salt and mix it together with water.
  3. Add the cubes of paneer and marinate it well. Keep it aside for 10-15 minutes.
  4. In a kadhai, take oil and deep fry those marinated cubes of paneer. Make sure they are crispy and golden.
  5. Remove them from the kadhi and place them onto a tissue paper to absorb the extra oil.
  6. Now cut square pieces of capsicum and onion.
  7. In a deep fry pan take 3 tbsp of oil from the kadhai which was used for frying paneer.
  8. Add finely chopped green chillies, garlic and ginger and saute them. Now add the onions and saute it till it is cooked. Make sure not to make them brown.
  9. Now add the coloured capsicum and stir fry them.
  10. Add some salt and all the sauces and stir it properly.
  11. In a bowl, take 1 tbsp cornflour and mix it well with water and add it into the mixture.
  12. Now add the paneer cubes and mix it till all the paneer cubes are completely coated.
  13. Stir it for 2 minutes and serve it hot.
